[Campaigns-l] Too many votes?

Again, I don't disagree. The policy debates are a tremendous waste of
time and effort. However, they are currently the ONLY thing happening
on the site. None of the recently adopted policies put major
limitations on what content can go onto the site. We have some people
like Lou who want to take advantage of the "letter of the law". We're
dealing with that nonsense. We have some other people like Iasson who
seem to want every single detail spelled out on how we do things. I
think this will pass.
The initial policies we came up with are pretty bare bones, on
purpose. We didn't want them to go into too much detail, in order not
to become too much of a distraction.
The only way to change that is to stop generating new policy ideas,
and actually get people to build content. I don't think that's going
to happen for the 2006 US elections. We're too close, and hopefully
most people are on the streets trying to support their candidates and
causes. I do that from my computer mostly, which is why I volunteered
for this.
The best way to solve the "policy debate distraction" problem is to
put it aside. Let's start looking at 2007 and 2008, and put something
together that means something.
