"political ignorance". The brazilian people don't know for whom they're
voting, don't know the candidates and understand even less about politics.
We need to find a way to teach them about the importance of voting and
knowing the goals of each candidate, especially the ones with real chances
of bein elected. After all, we're the inspectors of these governments. It's
all about the lack of interest and participation."

now... i've joined this mailing list... but i don't really see any
discussions going on... Where do we stand?

to present myself: My name is Ricardo Moraleida, i've graduated from college
last year and i work as a PR assistant at a local industry in Belo
Horizonte, Brazil. I've joined this mailing list because of a NGO project
i'm starting wich will deal with that so called "political ignorance". My
goal is to compile an online database for the citizens of Belo Horizonte, in
wich they'll be able to search for their representatives and learn about
what they're doing locally. That's basically it...

does anyone know any project like this??

Creio que, hoje em dia, o maior problema político que encontramos é a
"ignorância política", o povo brasileiro, em geral, não sabe em quem está
votando, não conhece os candidatos, e entende menos ainda sobre a
política. Precisamos achar uma maneira de conscientizá-los sobre a
importância do voto e do conhecimento das metas de cada candidato,
principalmente os que irão se eleger. Afinal, somos nós os fiscais destes
governos. Falta interesse e participação!
