I'd be very interested in hearing from people who live within the country. Do we have anyone on this list from Venezuela or does anyone know someone there? That's correct. http://ronpaul.wikia.com/ was set up as a grassroots effort. It's only attracting one edit per day, so any ideas on how to increase the activity there would be welcome. There are at least two other Ron Paul grassroots wikis online, but neither of them is in a better state of heath than Wikia's. One has had no edits in the past 10 days, and the other is overrun with spam. Here is a world changing idea for politics. After searching in the Craigslist (self controlled) I had the idea, why not create a community that's creating there own poll questions controlled by the people and not a professional pollster. This would include links to voting record of politician and links to articles about the issues. Each submitted poll will have to be censored and approved by a certain amount of people in the community and be limited to one vote per e-mail account of members or other means. That would get people involved and give the parties an idea what we really want. That starts with local politics to worldwide open info for everyone. I am thick of TV News and there tainted opinions. A people created pollster will give power back to the people. Big undertaking but so was Wiki. This is my idea hope I make sense. Michael B. An open source polling system, where people can submit their own questions is similar to a few other websites out there. Vote.com is one example. Demochoice.org is another. Quite a few of the blog generating software packages have polls available, and many sites use them. An example is DailyKos. Wikia actually does have a poll function available, but it's in the early stages of development. Anyone can vote, signed in or not. We tried using it in late 2006, and it caused people to stop coming by to contribute. The problem with poll systems like the one you are describing is that the results would not be viable for publication. I've taken statistics and polling classes, and there are methods that the professional polling agencies use to make their results meaningful. Those scientific methods make the polls cost so much money that only professional groups can afford to do them. Maybe they could be done for less expense, but I haven't seen anyone take up the challenge. Wikia would need much more revenue from the political sites before they could seriously look at doing it. We can create poll questions in the forums, and then advertise them to our friends and promote them to the general community. I would encourage that. It might be a way to get Campaigns.Wikia back on track with some participation. Chad Lupkes Campaigns.Wikia.com On Nov 4, 2007 6:18 AM, Michael B.
