From Robin-P at slingshot.co.nz Wed Mar 4 00:01:19 2009 From: Robin-P at slingshot.co.nz (Robin-P) Date: Wed, 4 Mar 2009 13:01:19 +1300 Subject: [Genealogy-l] Growing use of info pages Message-ID: <001601c99c5c$58c99520$0201a8c0@home> I'm impressed at how many of our newer contributors are diving in at the deep end creating info pages. Seems to be every second or third new contributor. There are distinct advantages in having an info page attached to an individual's article. Less typing in the long run, and the software can call up such a page in a number of ways. See the Barack Obama page for one example. Those of you who have not yet made any info pages might find them rewarding, and it's not much extra work at the start. An easy way into it is probably to follow the "Create a page" link for your next new person article and go down to the alternative options, not the top "quick 'n' easy" option. There's a new comment in the Guestbook on your lens "Familypedia is great for genealogy" (http://www.squidoo.com/Genealogy-Wiki): > It sounds like a great resource, and you explain it very well! Especially nowadays, with families scattering far and wide, this is a good way to get back in touch with roots. Genealogy Wikipedia also sounds better than Ancestry.org (though I've only tried the latter a little). > Small suggestion: a few borders or pictures-- even just leaves! -- to add a little splash to your lens. The content is the important part, though, and that's first-rate! >
