Yes, but Aerik was playing with something from Zend, which is PHP, so I 
figured that something he could access from PHP would be useful.

Actually I think a colleague of mine may well have written a Xapian 
indexer for Mediawiki (at least he's done it for a dump of Wikipedia), 
I'll check.
