[Search-l] lazy searching

Hi all,

hope im not repeating anything thats already come up, but i only just
joined the list!

i consider myself a lazy searcher - that is, i do a search on goolge,
find a link (where possible) and click. Thats the last time i see
google in that session (assuming the site/page is good, otherwise i'll
go back in my browser history and try the next best looking link).

All this talk of voting and thumbs up and down worries me somewhat - i
dont really want to change my searching method - once ive left the
search engine, i dont want to have to go back to say "yes, that page
is good/bad" - its not that i dont want to, but i WON'T go back and
vote in such cases (i obviously havent got much of a community spirit
:) but i suspect there are many users like me).

in my small mind this leads me to belive that we need someway of
keeping the voting system seperate from the site as it were - 'a la' a
browser plugin or such-like. but then you're tying yourself to a
browser and/or OS and/or locality and im sure there are other reasons
why thats a bad idea...

i dont think i even have a possible solution for the problem im
proposing (or if its even a problem?), just thought id make people
aware that some of us (ie. me) do WANT to be community oriented, but
at the same time, dont want to have to forgo my searching techniques -
ive been online for about 10 years now, and am very happy with my
current computing ways, i dont want to have to relearn how to search.

looking forward to a reponse (if any!)
