[Search-l] twin principles, or what brings us together?

1. Why does Wikia need to have a profit* motive in the first place?
* Profit adds frictions; the Singularity probably will not tolerate much
more friction in an area dominated by a company (Google) that presumably
operates as friction-free as a for-profit company can reasonably get..??
2. Shouldn't there be a "purely nonprofit" open source search engine?
Should this be a spinoff from/derivative to/basis for Wikia Search?
3. Have we finally named this thing yet? How is the name going to be
determined? By polling/vote/democracy or some other method??
4. In the meantime, most of you have probably seen this (today from
Read/WriteWeb)?

5. We need to get Wikia/search (or whatever its called) on this list, asap!
