It hasn't ever worked.
When i log in to the wiki i get the following cookies:
Name wikicitiesUserID
Value 123456
Host .wikia.com
Name wikicitiesUserName
Value Balinny
Host .wikia.com
Name wikicities_session
Value 00112233445566778899aabbccddeeff
Host .wikia.com
Name wikicitiesskinpref
Value quartz-smoke-1
Host .wikia.com
(log out, clear cookies)
If i log into the search i get:
Name wikiaSearchToken
Value ffeeddccbbaa99887766554433221100
Host .wikia.com
Name JSESSIONID
Value 01012323454567678989ABABCDCDEFEF
Host alpha.search.wikia.com
It's obvious why you don't get logged in on both. Even while the cookies
are .wikia.com they use different cookies. Maybe the search engine doesn't
even have access to wikia's sessions, which make a bit hard the merging.
