In this case the wording should be changed (for now).
1: On the login page(s), checkbox "Remember Login" should read something
like "Log in both to Wikia and to the search engine (and keep me logged in
for this session)" <- the duration of the login should be explicitely
stated, and if unknown because of permanent cookie, it should read "using a
permanent cookie".
2: On the user profile page*, checkbox "Remember my login on this computer"
should read something like (if applicable, currently i'm not sure what the
box does) "Log in both to Wikia and to the search engine (and keep me
logged in for the session)" or "Log in both to Wikia and to the search
engine (and log me in automatically when i return)".
3: The login at the left should read something like "Login to Wikia" (not
to "Search Wikia" because that's too similar to 4).
Alternatively, it could say "Wiki: _Log_In_" (where the underlined part is
the link).
4: The Login on top right should say something like "Login to Wikia Search"
or "Login to the search engine" (if this is the function it has, i'm still
not sure what it does, that's why i say it should be descriptive).
Alternatively - and i find this the better idea, it could be moved to the
left side beneath the other login link, and say "Search: _Log_In_" (where
the underlined part is the link).
5: The "Logged In" sign currently appears only on top and therefore is
misleading. If there are two de-facto separate logins, they should have
separate "Logged In" signs as well.
Alternatively, both the signs could be moved to the left side and they
could say "Wiki: _Log_Out_" and "Search: _Log_Out_", respectively.
In any case, the site should not be afraid to be verbose on such
complicated matters, see the forum for all the confusion it causes right
now. In the long run, those logins should be either unified (permanent
login feature de-coupled from unified login!) - or one of the logins
dropped (the search login, naturally).
*I could only reach the profile page by checking "Remember Login", not with
logging in on both login links.
