I agree.
I am reminded of a few trust/social search sites that can be integrated:
http://prefound.com/ - search what other people have already found
http://trexy.com/ - creating 'search trails' to share and save
http://lijit.com/ - search via another person's soc-net data
(and then there's chacha and mahalo etc, where people filter for you)
But this is all client-side stuff that can come much later.
