[Search-l] Old markets and methods vs. new

Well, this isn't the kind of interest/controversy/conversation I had in mind
when I started this thread, but I guess at least it's something...

Either of you distinguished gentlemen care to voice any opinions about old
vs. new markets, methods? Particularly about how the current dynamics of
the web continue to favor entrenched players, mostly due to old-business
style dynamics (the guy with the money to market his widget gets market
share) even though the underlying technology doesn't require it (since the
costs of distribution on the net are tiny)?

Best Regards,
Aerik
