Hi everyone -
Here's an interesting idea for a meta search engine platform. Maybe it will
provide some inspiration for this project...

>From the site....

How Hi1 Works:

1. Hi1 is a meta search engine platform.

2. Developers write 'engines' that specialize in answering particular kinds
of queries (e.g. weather, sports scores, wikipedia articles) or specialize
in crawling a subset of the web (and trying out new search algorithms on
that subset).

3. When a user does a search, the query is broadcast to all engines, engines
bid results onto the results page, and the results with the top 10 bids are
shown to the user. Results can contain any HTML content. Engines that
perform well (based on user clicks and ratings) are rewarded with money
(right now we use "points" instead of "dollars"). Thus, a result's bid is
proportional to the probability that the user will like the result.

4. Engine competition + bidding system = Efficient market of engines.
Engine specialization = Hi1 will be able to directly answer questions in the
search results.

For example:

Try typing in the name of any standard unix C function (such as recv,
recvfrom, or strstr), or any standard php function (such as preg_match,
str_replace, or addslashes) - you get info right on the search results page.
