I agree that the main page should be reworked to make it a bit
clearer about how a reader could start looking for stuff.
Frankly that's been a pretty low priority until the tips are a
bit cleaner. However we are now approaching a stage where
attention to your point would be worthwhile.
I won't look at it for quite a while because I have unfinished
business with other issues - perhaps someone would like to
investigate how we might present browsing categories better.
