Someone should be at the colo shortly to bring it back to life. The mailing lists are still working, and you can join us on IRC for updates. The usual IRC gateway is down, but you can access the channel by typing your name and the channel "#wikia" into http://java.freenode.net/ I apologize for the downtime. I'll send an update when things are working again. I don't think it was a known problem, so thanks for reporting it. As background, processing stats on a daily basis takes a fair amount of computing power... first, we dump the full db every day (which we'll continue to do for backup purposes)... then we run a MediaWiki program that calcs the stats. This whole process has been taking over 24 hours to complete... at which point our cron job to calc the stats starts up again. If you just want to use plain monobook, unchecking "See custom wikis" on the skin-tab in Special:Preferences should probably work.. The standard monobook CSS file you can find at http://images.wikia.com/common/skins/monobook/main.css?20071123145454 - or the wikipedia one: http://en.wikipedia.org/skins-1.5/monobook/main.css (doubt there's any difference tho, but i haven't read through them both).. -- Bj?rnar From dawormie at gmail.com Tue Dec 4 01:36:51 2007 From: dawormie at gmail.com (Victor) Date: Tue, 4 Dec 2007 12:36:51 +1100 Subject: [Wikia-l] personal skin In-Reply-To: <3b6cf93a0712031725t4ce0d1dcj3b37aeb558ea0d75@mail.gmail.com> References: <3b6cf93a0712031538m2ea63465ja62463dd8a7bad6b@mail.gmail.com> <3b6cf93a0712031725t4ce0d1dcj3b37aeb558ea0d75@mail.gmail.com> Message-ID: Just download mediawiki and look in *skins\monobook\ *I did send an e-mail as an attachment but there's a filesize limit of 40K and it's awaiting approval atm. If not, Go to Options(far right on bar)..Display Style..click Actions radio button. *Test wikia- Copy paste the wikitext from the hCalendar article with the addr examples, and the Google Calendar item should light up. If not, Options gives you a debug mode. Put it into events display and it will give some indication of the error. No rush on getting it working. How do we make it? If JavaScript expert is in this list, please tell me a good tip. I know we can make it to install Treeview extention http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Treeview, but it is not installed now. Thanks. So since it's already loaded on all pages on Wikia it would probably be a good thing to use. Here's the TreeView information: http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/treeview/ This is the code I used to get YUI's TabView working on the Wikia ACG wiki: http://en.anime.wikia.com/wiki/MediaWiki:TabView.js If anyone wants to they can crack at it. E-Mail the list if you do. If you don't I'll probably modify the code to setup a TreeView system that'll work with a

I'll get back onto it at some point. When it's done it'll just be a simple @include and define some variable like "wgTreeviewSidebar = (false|true|#|Array)" Where basically, false/undefined would leave the sidebar alone. True would turn the entire sidebar into a Treeview, # would determine the level of depth you want the system to start at, or an array could determine what id's treeviews should be started at. TreeView isn't actually loaded. Could you poke one of the techs to get [ http://images.wikia.com/common/skins/common/yui/treeview/treeview-min.js ] to be loaded with allinone.js? BTW... While that's added... There are one or two more I could use: http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/button/ : The Button appears to be something far more viable to use for JS created forms and stuff than normal input buttons do. It would vastly simplify creating scrips for users, and help with adding new features. http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/animation/ : Animation is part of YUI's basic functions. I'm kinda surprised that it hasn't been added. There are a number of things I could use it to do. http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/get/ : Ok, I know it's beta... But users all over Wikia are using various methods of attempting to load new JS and CSS pages. But most of them are either badly built, or don't work good in some browsers. Using the one inside of YUI would eliminate both of those and possibly give a better way for us to load our JS scripts. ~Daniel Friesen(Dantman) of: -The Gaiapedia (http://gaia.wikia.com) -Wikia ACG on Wikia.com (http://wikia.com/wiki/Wikia_ACG) -and Wiki-Tools.com (http://wiki-tools.com) DanTMan wrote: > Don't worry, I'm doing a bit of the coding at the moment, but I probably > won't finish today (Should probably sleep soon). Hi there, you can style your dismiss cell in your site CSS using the following selector rule. #siteNotice td+td{ } Place whatever css specifications you'd like where is at.
