Wow.
So, I want to make an offer to everyone in every wikia community...
please post this message far and wide throughout wikia.
The most useful thing that I can personally do for you in helping to
build your community is to get you some press coverage. I am
particularly interested in helping you to get press coverage in your
"vertical" press markets... whatever that might be.
Is there a magazine, newsletter, fanzine, tv show, radio show, or
whatever that you wish would tell the rest of your global community
about your wikia?
Put me to work!
There are great people at Wikia who want to hear from you about
operations, about software improvements, about community issues, etc.
And I love hearing from you about that stuff too. But in those cases,
what I can normally do for you is pass it along and support changes that
help you.
As for me personally, I am mostly useless to you except for one thing:
helping you get noticed. Helping your wiki to become famous in the
places you want it to be famous.
I try to do as much of this for you as I can, but the real issue is one
of scale. We just don't have the resources to understand your space in
the world as well as you do.
You can tell me what publications you want to be featured in. We can
work together on the idea for a story you want to pitch them. Then with
those two things in hand, I can contact them and set up an interview.
You will have me prepped ahead of time with your message, and we will
get it into the publication.
