[Wikia-l] MediaWiki 1.12 upgrade, what's the benefit?

Dantman et al.,
Please don't concern yourself with running an 'alpha' version.
The MediaWiki code base is kept in a 'ready-to-run' state.
If it is good enough for Wikipedia, it is good enough for Wikia.
Remember that Wikipedia runs alpha versions persistently...
The _slight_ advantage to running official releases or shortly thereafter is
all the community testing.
Although most mini-sites don't upgrade until an official release, regular
tarballs are available and arguably as stable as any numbered release.
I also prefer 1.11.0, but a number of fixes have since been released and
ultimately the latest is a better product.
Keep you eyes peeled for revisions and bug fixes; I think you will agree.
We all have our sights set on 1.13.0; patience is a virtue...
Merry Christmas and to all a stable-build!
