Memory Alpha gets a great plug in this week's Entertainment Weekly magazine!
It's issue #971/972, Dec 28th-Jan 4th. The cover story is "Best & Worst
2007".
There's an insert in the middle: "Best of the Web: The 25 Most Essential
Fansites for TV, Music and Film Buffs". Memory Alpha is #11 on the list,
ranking between Madonnalicious and Project Rungay.
Here's what it says:
*Star Trek
> memory-alpha.org
*
*Launch Date* November 2003
*What You'll Find* The wiki-based Memory Alpha is truly the final frontier
when it comes to online *Star Trek* info. Fans can quickly scan (and even
update) news and TV listings, read articles on Andorians and Krieger waves,
and further their Starfleet knowledge via complete profiles of
minor-but-memorable characters (Boothby!) and starships (*Excelsior*!).
*Why It's Essential* There are plenty of other *Trek* fansites floating out
there in cyberspace, but Memory Alpha wins out for its handsome, intuitive
presentation and its overwhelming mass -- it even has copies of the old *
Trek* newspaper comic strip from the early 1980s.
*
Official Site* *startrek.com* If you're looking for info on J.J. Abrams'
upcoming *Star Trek* film, don't bother. At least not yet. However,
franchise episode guides and actor Q&A's are here for the taking. (The
Minimate Spock will cost you $7.99, though.) -- *Adam B. Vary*
Congratulations to the Memory Alpha community! This is well-deserved
recognition.
