[Wikia-l] Why is DOB required for registration?

The Wikia Terms of Use doesn't mention DOB: "The only information that
you need give is a username and password. (...) Therefore, any
personal information you choose to give is not compulsory."
In addition, There's no privacy policy talking about collection of
information by google-analytics, quantserve and the advertising
(mostly from cookies) There's no legal rules for that?
