Have you considered using a third party for the poll and just linking
to that? Polls on wikis actually don't work too well - you don't want
to edit responses after people start voting, but that's what the poll
extension allows!

A site dedicated just to the creation of polls or surveys is more able
to provide you with features like SMS voting. Let me know which site
you choose as it's possible it could be embedded into the wiki in the
same way that videos and spreadsheets already are.
