Heh.

I finally got my boyfriend to start reading them, and he read that prologue
and immediately started spouting about Tolkien and D&D and all that stuff,
and I had to set him down nicely and be like "yes dear, but that isn't
actually part of the storyline. It's BACKGROUND."

I never even thought about the discontinuity before that, though.
